Weaving Wyrd Webs

Weaving Wyrd Webs Cover
The techniques given here may be familiar in different forms to readers; the forms I offer here being the ones I have developed. They are both techniques to be used in conjunction with other techniques to raise the energy levels for an operation. Mantra Web The Mantra Web is a very simple and effective technique for using sonics in a group.

Choose a mantra with a number of syllables corresponding to the number of operators, e.g. IAO for 3 people. The operators should link hands, left palm up and right palm down, and slowly start to circle anti-clockwise, each vibrating their syllable. As this is done the operators should each project a thread of light from their Solar Plexus (Manipura chakra) to a central focal point. The colour(s) of the threads of light should be determined before the operation according to its purpose and the current beliefs of the operators. As the speed and resonance of the mantra is built up over a period of time, so the web is empowered, until a climax is reached and the web energy directed by a pre-specified operator to its purpose. This is just a sketchy outline of the technique, which obviously can be used for much more than this. Some of the more common uses for this technique include healing (with the individual in the centre at the focus, crystals would also boost the energy levels); sexual magick (with the operator(s) in the centre and, if possible, the climax timed
accordingly); empowering sigils, and so on.

THE GLYPH OF THE MANTRA WEB

If the operators vibrate their syllable alternately instead of together, the mantra will spin around the circle and have a positively disorienting effect on the operators. It is important that the operators visualize their thread of light continuously, and not just when vibrating their mantra syllable. I particularly recommend this technique for outdoor use, especially at suitably aspected power sites. However, if you are using a stone circle or any other site for magick, please do think about what aspects the site has, and preferably
visit beforehand to achieve some rapport with the site. (Respect for the land and leaving the site in good condition should not need to be mentioned, but there are a lot of semi-morons out there who do not seem to care about their sacred spaces). A lot of the best research work done and published in recent years has been by researchers in the Earth Mysteries field, who concentrate more on their work than pampering egos and getting lazier.

Angle Webs

Angle Webs are sigils created by superimposing a macrocosmic map (i.e. the Tree of Life) onto an astrological map of a given moment in time. The purpose of this is to tap into the energy of a given moment e.g. an eclipse, nuclear blast, historical event, etc.
The method of construction is as follows:

1. Draw 10 concentric circles at equal intervals outward from a central point.
2. Very lightly draw 12 equidistant radii to the outer circle, dividing all the circles into 12 equal segments. These divisions represent the zodiacal signs, so start where you want Aries to be, and the other signs follow round in an anti-clockwise direction.
3. The centre of the circle represents planet Earth (Malkuth) qabalistically. Moving out from the centre the planets are placed on the rims of the respective circles relative to their mean distance from Earth, and based on their astrological position at the time the sigil is being drawn for. In order out from the centre, the planets follow this sequence - Moon, Mars, Venus, Mercury, Sun, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto. (Neptune's orbit takes it outside of Pluto's orbit for some years of its cycle, it is worth checking the periods when this occurs and noting them for reference). Thus if the sign of Aries began at the top' of the page, and the Moon was 28 Taurus, the Moon would be located at approximately the '2 o'clock' position on the rim of the first circle.

4. When all the planets have been marked in their respective places on the circles, each planet should be joined to the planets it would be joined to by paths on the Tree of Life with straight lines. Hence the centre, Malkuth, would be joined to the Moon-point (Yesod) on the first circle, the Venus-point (Netzach) on the third circle and the Mercury-point (Hod) on the fourth circle. I take Uranus (Daath) as a point like all the others, so planets which are linked through Daath on the Tree should also be joined to the Uranus-point, e.g.
Saturn, Sun, Pluto, etc. (I use Uranus rather than Saturn to correspond to Daath as it is more appropriate to my own system of magick).

5. After all the planets have been linked, the Angle Web has been constructed, and is ready to be charged by whatever methods the operator prefers. If creating an Angle Web of a particular event, consider the implications - I would rather create an Angle Web for a test-blast than the Hiroshima blast if I wanted to try and use that sort of energy, for example.

6. The technique can of course be modified, obvious possibilities being to use the Qabalistic Colour Scales, body fluids, crystals, etc. Angle Webs also work very well as empowering sigils to charge a second sigil placed on top. In my own magickal operations I usually use Angle Webs in conjunction with a series of sigils I call Nightside Squares (these are similar in some ways to the Abramelin Squares; they also have corresponding Mantra Webs). See Making Mutable Mantras for further details.

As can be seen below, all the sigil is in less than half the circle's area, (consider the Earth point is the centre point and the Pluto point lies on the outermost circle which forms the bounds of the sigil); a significant fact in itself, considering the shape of the Angle Web and the moment it sigilizes.
